Aloe Vera (aloe barbadensis): Aloe is well know for it moisturising and soothing properties. The clear gel contained in the leaf is a remarkably effective healer of wounds and burns, speeding up the rate of healing and reducing the risk of infection. Extensive research since the 1930s has shown the aloe vera has a dramatic ability to heal wounds, ulcers and burns. This is in part due to the presence of aloectin B, which stimulates the immune system.
Plantain (plantago lanceolata): Plantain has a tremendous folk-history as a first aid herb to use ‘on the spot’. It is highly rated for many common outdoor happenings including bites, cuts, grazes, stinging from other plants etc. The fresh plantain leaf is remarkably soothing and provides rapid relief for pain, itching or irritation on the skin.
Lavender (lavendula angustifolia): Lavender essential oil is an invaluable first aid remedy. It is strongly antiseptic, helping to heal burns, wounds and sores. Rubbed on insect bites, it relieves pain and inflammation.
Directions: Apply 3-5 times to burns and let the gel dry. For insect bites and stings apply as often as required.
